Ida Ambrose - born 12. juni 1982 - 164 cm - weight app 50 kilos, shoe-size. maybe 39
Ida is our new singer as per Sept. 2022 - she is Danser med Drenge's third singer after Philippa and Rie.
Ida joined DmD after we had sat staring at the wall during the corona shutdowns after Rie's goodbye,
and she was recommended to us by another talented singer, Anne Holse,
who thought Ida could be something for us. You dare say she was right -
Ida is a perfect fit for Danser med Drenge because of her reggae
feeling, her lovely personality and her big, warm voice.
As you may have guessed,
she is a good mix of something Danish and foreign, just like many of her
talented colleagues. Ida's father is originally from Gambia and her
mother from Denmark. She grew up in Brøndbyöster, lives in Copenhagen,
and in the summer she has access to a nice little allotment house next
to a field in Ishøj, where she grows many fruits and plants.
In her musical career,
she has primarily sung reggae and pop, both as a soloist and in
constellations such as the duo IdaAida, and she also has her own reggae
orchestra, for which she writes music, called Ida Ambrose & The
Raggateers. She also has a brother in the music industry, Alex Ambrose,
who many probably remember from when he was a soloist in the 00s with
Nik & Jay.
For some reason, Ida has
never had the big breakthrough, but that is of course our luck -
otherwise we would never have been able to lure her into DmD. She
herself says that she was told when she was quite young that it would be
many years before she broke through when she visited a fortune teller.
Then it couldn't have been the soothsayer we sing about. We hope that
Ida breaks through in DmD - it will be a great pleasure for us to be
able to help her a small step up the ladder if we can, because she has
deserved it to that extent.
